According to a new report, a group of gay men who are members of the MIAKA (Men interested in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority) are threatening to sue after they have been prevented from joining all female sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. Since being formed at Howard University on Jan. 15, 1908 the group known for wearing pink and green have been ladies only, but if this suit goes as planned things may be changing.” -THELIFEFILES
Someone brought my attention to this story. I am a part of a sorority myself and I’m not sure how to feel about this, Men are supposed to join fraternities and ladies are supposed to join sororities this is historical, it’s been this way since the beginning of time. I think they’re co-ed orgs but they are called something else. I don’t understand why they want to join an organization full of woman; most of the sororities was founded on the principles of sisterhood. This excludes men.
