By now, your calendar should be overflowing with festive holiday themed events. If you’re like me, you’re still debating on whether or not you should make a cameo at your company holiday event. Although you may have overbooked that gorgeous smile of yours and your fresh new hair style, you still have one huge task ahead of you. What to wear?

Lucky for you, I’m a pro at deciding what look will work perfectly with any event’s personality. Some events require statement outwear. You might have to hike it a trillion New York blocks to get to your destination-never know who or what you may encounter along the way. Other events need way more boom and jazz to your look. I mean, what other time of the year is it totally appropriate to wear head to toe sparkle and glitter?

Here’s three event scenarios and my wardrobe solutions. Check it out.

Blogger’s Envy: I’ve been to tons of blogger holiday parties. And trust… you want to go all out with your wardrobe. The more trends the better. Here’s that boom and jazz I was talking about it. You want to be noticed. There’s probably gonna be a street style photographer in the building. Whether you are a blogger or not–leather, studs, and poofy skirts will get you on someone’s radar!

All work and then play. Most company holiday parties are right after work. So you may have to lug your evening threads along in your cute carry-on bag. Be as subtle with your trends as possible. You don’t want to give any additional ammo for the office gossip girls. Go for a dress or coat in a soft, shimmering fabric like velvet. It screams holiday and you can never go wrong with rich tones like plum or burgundy.

Boyfriend’s Mom. Whether this is the first time meeting John’s mom, you just so happen to be her fave girlfriend, or you and her constantly battle over his attention–this is not the time to show off or show out. Well… maybe show off a little. You want her to know that she’s the women of the house, so leave the heels at home. But keep it cute by wearing a pop of color or an animal print. Flats will be more than perfect because this way if your help is needed–you’re not too cute to wash the dishes (laughs).
