Ghost Baby Named One of Best Bars of 2025

One of Cincinnati’s most unique bars just earned major national love.

Ghost Baby, the swanky cocktail lounge tucked five stories below Republic Street in an old beer tunnel, has been named one of USA Today’s “Bars of the Year” for 2025.

The underground space dates back to the 1850s, originally built as a lagering tunnel for Champion Brewing. After sitting vacant for decades, the space was brought back to life with moody lighting, live music, and one of the city’s most unforgettable drink menus.

“Ghost Baby was conceived as an homage to both history and possibility—a space where time slows, conversation matters, and the senses are awakened,” said founder Josh Heuser.

The vibe at Ghost Baby is pretty intimate and immersive, with curated music & bands plus upscale service that aims to feel like more than just regular bar night out.

“Our goal is to create experiences that resonate on a deeper level,” said Director of Hospitality Adammichael Gesell. “When guests feel transported and return seeking that same feeling, that’s when we know we’ve done something meaningful.”

Ghost Baby has also been spotlighted by Condé Nast Traveler, Forbes, and was previously named one of the Best Bars in America by Esquire in 2022.

Ghost Baby is open Tuesday-Thursday 5pm-12am, Friday 4pm-1:45am, and Saturday 3pm-1:45am. Reservations are encouraged for larger parties and/or weekends. There is a mild dress code: just no athleisure wear, flip flops, or shorts permitted in the bar.
