Meet the new editor-in-chief of Ebony magazine – Ms. Amy DuBois Barnett. Appointed to the coveted position today via reports from the Chicago Tribune, DuBois Barnett is an experienced author, creative writer and top media executive who’s previously been busy churning out great products with some familiar media gems.
In the past, DuBois Barnett served as deputy editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar and she has also credited for her masterful work as editor of Honey magazine. At Honey, DuBois Barnett was responsible for the swift upward shift in the young women’s magazine circulation.
In addition to her prior successes, DuBois Barnett also served as managing editor of Teen People. She is recognized as the first African-American female to lead a major mainstream magazine.
Ebony, known for being the revered African-American media brand we’ve all been reading since 1945, has announced details of DuBois Barnett’s arrival shortly after reports were unveiled that former editor-in-chief, Harriette Cole is leaving the Chicago-based Johnson Publishing Co.‘s flagship publication.
