Looks like a celebration is in order! Jay-Z continues to make music history. He is the first rapper to be nominated for the 2017 Songwritters Hall of Fame. Other artists that are included to be nominated are Madonna, Kool & The Gang, Babyface, and more.

Candidates become eligible for this award after writing hit records for over 20 years. We all know Jay-Z has probably accomplished that or more by now.

“Songwriters are eligible for induction after writing hit songs for at least 20 years. Jay Z, who released his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, in 1996, has launched multiple hits in the last two decades, from “Big Pimpin'” to “Empire State of Mind.” – Billboard

The Induction gala will take place in NY on June 15, 2017. We have some time to see who will win.
