From her second number 1 album Chapter II is Ashanti’s Rain on Me. There is no question when Ashanti initially hit the music scene in 2002 she came hard! Her first project, which was self titled, sold 5 million worldwide. Ashanti seemed to fill a void we were missing in the game, especially since Aaliyah’s passing in 2001. Her follow up effort wasn’t received quite like the debut album. However, this record I remember being a big deal. It received a lot of attention, and garnered plenty spins on BET. I appreciated the dramatics from Ashanti, as well as the message. Domestic violence and abuse is NEVER ok. At some point you have to stand up and say “It’s Over”.
