New York radio personality DJ Envy is experiencing his skeletons being ripped from his closet. Recently, model/reality star Erica Mena said she had had an affair with DJ Envy right before she started dating her manager Rich Dollaz. Envy, after denying it for a while, has finally come clean and confirmed the affair to be true.
DJ Envy confessed to the affair earlier this morning on his radio show with The Breakfast Club. He said it was his own insecurities that led him astray and he apologized to his wife Gia Casey, who is pregnant with their child. While copping pleas, DJ Envy called Erica Mena a “bird” and a “liar.” Envy said on air, “It’s a difficult thing to do. Sometimes being married it makes you insecure dude. I looked like I had everything. It was scary, my wife is gorgeous. She might need somebody that’s smarter than me. It made me insecure.“
“With being insecure, with me being weak. I was so insecure and so down..I started messing with somebody that was beneath me. A bird. Evil. A liar. Somebody that was desperate and it’s just so pathetic. I mean I didn’t have to feed this person. I didn’t have to make her feel special, because she wasn’t. So that’s what it was,” DJ Envy further explained to his audience.
He also said the betrayal has made his family closer. This isn’t the first time he’s shared his marital issues with his listeners, many people just assumed he was talking about his relationship woes to secure a spot on the upcoming season of “Real Housewives of New Jersey.” However, that is not the case. Envy said that the relationship between him and his wife is getting better. “With the help of God, this situation has made my family tighter. Like tighter. I’m honest. I had to be honest with myself. And the hardest thing I had to do was tell my wife EVERYTHING. When I say everything. She looked at me so different. To look at my family. So you guys follow me on twitter. We’re good. We’re not great. I don’t know what happens from here. Now if we remain together, as a relationship, we’ll see. But as a family, nobody’s stopping us. I just want to tell you ‘I love you. And we’ll see what God has in store for us.’“
Although DJ Envy was confessing his sins on the radio this morning, he never actually said Erica Mena’s name. He didn’t really have to. Mena had already confessed to sleeping with him and she said she would be detailing the relationship in her book, “Underneath It All.” The book is due out April 2013 and is sure to satisfy those who are most thirsty for gossip.
