South African house star Muzi releases new single ‘Queen’ featuring Chris Martin of Coldplay. ‘Queen’ features Martin singing in Muzi’s native Zulu and arrives as part of Muzi’s new album uMUZI.

Chris Martin first caught wind of Muzi after catching his performance at Afropunk Paris in 2019, calling Muzi “one of the best things I’ve ever seen.” Later that year, Martin enlisted Muzi for an official remix of Coldplay’s ‘Orphans‘. Source:The Hoodies

Brothers E-Class and Young Poppa have been honing their craft as emcees since the ages of nine and four, respectively. Within seven years of spitting their first rhymes, the two became internet Rap sensations known as The Hoodies with their social media freestyle series “In The Whip”. After years of viral success, and three well-received projects, the young Upstate New Yorkers have arrived as seasoned recording artists on their new album Hidden Gems, produced entirely by the legendary Kid Capri. Released on all digital streaming platforms via Asti Love/EMPIRE, the album’s twelve tracks showcase The Hoodies’ impressive wordplay, sharp flows, conceptual songwriting, deep introspection, and unrivaled ferocity over a fervid sound that calls back to the late ‘90s, early 2000s.

Hidden Gems proves that, as Gen Z rappers with a reverence for Hip-Hop’s roots, The Hoodies have what it takes to carry the torch and offer far more than the viral internet moments that helped propel them to stardom. And with hard-hitting beats and scratches from Kid Capri, it serves as the ultimate bridge between generations in Hip-Hop’s 50th year.

It’s the 50th anniversary of hip-hop so why wouldn’t we bring back that nostalgic boom bap feel? ‘Hidden Gems’ will be the album to restore that classic hip-hop feel back to culture. Real concepts, real lyrics, real life.” – E-Class

“‘Hidden Gems’ is a combination of the old school and new school. The creative process is always easy when we’re working with Capri.” – Young Poppa

14. Kemuel – Alone

Source:Kemuel

On the back of early success for his latest single ‘ALONE’, which has amassed nearly a million global streams in just a few weeks, while also garnering critical acclaim from the likes of Clash Magazine, Notion, and Earmilk, among others, exciting new Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer KEMUEL has unveiled a captivating music video to accompany the new single. Shot on location in Oyo State in Nigeria, and directed by Cindy Ihua aka Director C, who has also worked for the likes of PsychoYP and Azanti, the retro theme styled visuals for ‘Alone’ brings the track’s narrative of love and regret further to life, while showcasing Kemuel’s performance prowess, and future star power.

Speaking about how the ‘Alone’ video came together, Kemuel says, “We were driven by a desire to intertwine the powerful emotions and scenic elements evoked by the song. Working closely with Director C, whom we deeply trusted to grasp our vision, and a dedicated 20-man crew, we searched for the best motorway scenery in southwest Nigeria, to curate a masterpiece that seamlessly merges a nostalgic, retro aesthetic with a narrative of bonding travellers. The video captures both an encompassing love that ties wanderers together, and a portrayal of isolation without such connections, using things like a vintage car, classic styling, and a grained film look to encapsulate those emotions and tales from the road.”

Opening up about writing ‘Alone’, Kemuel adds that “I’ll be honest with you about the inspiration – before music started happening for me, there was a girl in my life, but relocating to Lagos to pursue music was detrimental to our relationship. I realise now that I was somewhat blind to the strain that caused. We had gone through countless fights because of the distance between us, so this song is basically all the things I would’ve said to her to provide some level of assurance, but I never did, and in the end, we broke up. It was a Thursday when ‘Alone’ took shape, I remember because it felt like the weekend, but it wasn’t. I kept listening to this beat I created earlier that day until the lyrics came pouring out.

In the midst of Africa’s musical renaissance, capturing the attention of global audiences, Lagos-based musician and producer Kemuel stands out as a beacon of raw talent and intentional artistry. Infusing elements of R&B, pop, and afrobeats, Kemuel crafts stories through his lyrics, punctuated by compelling melodies, enveloping listeners in a vibrant auditory experience. He doesn’t merely represent the Nigerian essence; he amplifies it, drawing on the rich cultural threads of his native Rivers state. But Kemuel offers more than just music; he curates an immersive journey, a space of solace, companionship, and peace. Kemuel doesn’t just want you to hear his music; he wants you to feel every note and emotion.

Kemuel’s foray into music began at 13, immersing himself in his local church choir, where he honed his skills on the piano, bass guitar, and drums. His fervour for the arts didn’t stop at music, leading him to pursue a degree in Fine Art and Design from the University of Port Harcourt. His debut EP Escape signalled the dawn of a promising new talent in global music, a promise that was further acknowledged when he got drafted to work with African music icons Olamide and DJ Spinall on their hit single ‘Bunda’. Now, as anticipation builds for his sophomore EP, Kemuel boasts over 9 million plays online, and recognition from MTV Base, BBC 1Xtra, TRACE, Apple Music, and Spotify, among others.

18. Toure – Life Of The Party

Source:Toure - Topic

Claiming his spot as a formidable HipHop talent, TOURE has been relentless with consistently releasing new music. Now the West Philadelphia rapper drops Life Of The Party, his third project in 11 months available via DOPE Records. It’s anchored by the focus single “Lifestyle Vicious” featuring Grammy award-winning artist Vory.

Life Of The Party is an engrossing project that evokes reflection and hard-earned celebration. Checking in at 12 tracks, it is an exhibition for agile rhymes, searing belief and songwriting versatility. TOURE opens with “Lost It All Before,” as he stitches block memories into an emotive soundscape for a map of where he’s been and where he’s going. Skittering across the frenetic percussion and pensive guitar of “My Raff,” he delivers a rumination on success and the isolation that usually comes with it. Then on the focus song “Lifestyle Vicious” featuring Vory, his vocal tone does gymnastics as he contrasts the experiences of his ruthless past to his rich present and the intersectionality between it all. Other features on the project include Kie, YP Slumpboy, Yung Bleu, and Zoey Dollaz.

About the release, TOURE reflected, “With this project I’m giving you turn-up energy from all the fun I’m having. Instead of using my pain to make a record, I’m using the joy.” He continued to share, “I’m done competing with the artists from my city, I’m trying to compete with the world.”

Leading up to this project, TOURE took a captivating leap by collaborating with another melodious artist for the very first time on “Room 303” featuring Yung Bleu  [Drake, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz] which was released to much success. Upon arrival, it permeated playlists across all streaming platforms including Most Necessary on Spotify, New In Hip Hop on Apple Music, Brand New Music on Amazon, Trendsetters Hip Hop on Pandora, and New East Coast on Tidal, amongst many more. During the chorus, Yung Bleu’s signature vibrato sensually glides over guitar-laden HitKidd production [GloRilla, Megan Thee Stallion, Gloss Up]. TOURE’s charm flows through each verse as he invites his muse back to his hotel room to romantically rekindle their flame.

This project marks his third project in 11 months, pushing him to the forefront of the conversation on emerging artists to watch. In a recent interview with Talk Of The Town he shared his insights, “Independent artists, without a fanbase – I want to buy into you, you got to sell yourself. I remember the beginning of Future dropping project after project after project. That shit builds your character. Then you end up with 12 singles that you could go perform that people actually know when you put out a lot of music. When you put out one single, you go on stage, do that one song, and nobody knows the rest of your set.”

TOURE’s recent accomplishments include an eye-opening freestyle on Bars On I-95 showcasing his expertise with wordplay. Additionally, he achieved a sold-out headline concert at the iconic Theatre of Living Arts presented by DOPE Shows in partnership with Live Nation. Proving himself as a leading force in Philadelphia’s rap culture, he performed for 1.5 hours boasting an impressive catalog and undeniable mainstream appeal. TOURE floated through track after track including “Out West” from World Toure, “A.T.R.N.” from Only 4 The Trenches, “Game Time” from Hood Poetry, “Kisha” from ALL I WANTED WAS EVERYTHING, and closed out the show with “Federal” as the crowd roared. After attending the spectacle, Secret Philadelphia praised, “To not only bring people together like one big melting pot, but to also create that kind of vibe is downright powerful.”

The impact of his previous EP, ALL I WANTED WAS EVERYTHING, was immediate upon release, catapulting to the Top 40 on the Apple Music HipHop Albums Chart. High-profile endorsements poured in from Armani White, James Harden, Meek Mill, Tee Grizzley, Tierra Whack, Wallo267, and more applauding his unique style of storytelling from the trenches. The EP plays out like an audio map that guides you through all of TOURE’s songwriting multitudes. Tracks like “KISHA” exude swagger and confidence, while “AIN’T WANNA LEAVE”  delves into raw emotion, featuring a poignant collaboration with EST Gee. His mastery of entrancing melodies glisten brilliantly over “Can I F*ck Again” as his lyrical prowess create a blueprint for pursuing an ex. Then on “I Got U” he takes inspiration from the cult-classic video game Grand Theft Auto, reflecting on his rich lifestyle with his raps.

Before this impressive journey, TOURE had already released a series of compelling bodies of work, including Hood Poetry (2022), Only 4 The Trenches (2021), and World Toure (2018).  Stay tuned to TOURE’s remarkable growth as an artist as his presence continues to expand, solidifying his status as a formidable talent to watch.

21. Ice Spice & Rema – Pretty Girl

Source:Ice Spice

Ice Spice releases the song for “Pretty Girl (with Rema)” on 10K Projects/Capitol. The rapper, singer, songwriter and overall It Girl is joined on the track by Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Rema and produced by RiotUSA.

“Pretty Girl (with Rema)” comes days after the Bronx-born Ice Spice was announced as the season premiere musical guest on Saturday Night Live, won Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards and Best New Artist at the 2023 Video Music Awards, graced the cover of Variety magazine and LA Times, added “Deli” as her 3rd RIAA-Certified Gold single with (the other two are “Munch (Feelin’ You)” and “In Ha Mood.” “Boys a Liar Part 2” with Pink Pantheress is certified platinum). Another week in the life of 23-year-old Ice Spice.

The collaboration with Rema — the recipient of MTV’s 2023 Video Music Award for Best Afrobeats — follows back-to-back smash collaborations with rap trailblazer Nicki Minaj, including “Princess Diana (with Nicki Minaj)” and “Barbie World (with Aqua)”, which marked the biggest female hip-hop debut of 2023 and broke Whitney Houston’s 31-year record for biggest jump to #1 in Billboard Rhythmic radio history. Further aligning herself with her music idols, Ice recently showed up on a remix of Taylor Swift’s track “Karma”, which reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and then Ice performed live alongside the icon at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium.

All these back-to-back hits – which have all reached the Top 10 of the Billboard charts – have made Ice Spice, the artist with the most Hot 100 Top 5 singles in 2023. This meteoric rise is actually as organic as they come, as the fan-dubbed ‘Princess Diana’ connects with her audience, dismisses noise, stays the boss of her own destiny and continues to focus on her songwriting and manifestations.

Not only has Ice Spice made waves on the charts, but she has also broken records on socials. Last month, it was announced that she achieved the biggest streaming debut for a female rapper on Spotify. The Bronx rapper surpassed a record previously held by Nicki Minaj. “Karma,” on Taylor Swift’s deluxe album, garnered an impressive 5.036 million streams in its first day. This propelled it to No. 5 on the global Spotify chart. This is the biggest streaming debut for a woman rapper in global Spotify history for her “Karma” collaboration with Taylor Swift.

This success should come as no surprise, as Ice Spice’s debut EP “Like..?” (10K Projects/Capitol) boasts nearly 2.5 Billion combined global streams and is packed with viral hits that earned universal acclaim and spots on countless “Best Song of the Year” lists from the likes of  The New York Times, Pitchfork, Rolling StoneBillboard, NPR and The Washington Post among others. These accomplishments have put Ice on the cover of Billboard’s 40 Under 40 Issue, Teen Vogue and Paper Magazine, and the aforementioned Variety and LA Times. Critics and fans alike love her funny bad-ass lyrics, her deep voice and her laissez fair delivery.

Last year saw Ice Spice establish herself as one of the most notable names in the rap game. The New Year’s, 2000, baby came out of 2022 as TikTok’s #1 Emerging Artist of the Year, Vevo’s 2023 DSCVR Artist to Watch, Shazam’s Top 2023 Artist Prediction, Billboard’s Hip Hop Rookie of the month and rounded out 2022 as BET’s Amplified Artist of the month.

Ice Spice’s road to stardom accelerated with “Munch,” but she’s been buzzing in NYC for a long time. At age seven she was writing poetry and freestyling, and from there she first gained attention with “No Clarity,” a bite-sized banger that decries the lack of communication in a relationship, and the soul-sampling “Name Of Love,” which Ebro featured as his “discovery of the day” on Apple Music Radio.

This Fall, catch her on the Scarlet Tour with Doja Cat. As the past year has been monumental for Ice, she revealed to Variety that she has no place to slow down anytime soon.

Pink Siifu states “Honestly, Valee has been one of my favorite rappers since like 2016-2017… it’s just a honor and privilege to be able to add to the already strong discography and beautiful legacy. Every time Valee drops it’s a gift for Chicago and those from the city who prevail. This track was easy off top, thanks to MVW. The production was brought to me on a platter and the lay up verse was sensational. Valee is one of the easiest to work with, even when not in the same room, we are able bounce ideas off.”

MVW states, “This track was a particularly interesting from an executive production standpoint. Siifu and Valee had worked together in brilliant form, and I thought this track would be particularly good fit for their styles. “Siifu’s additional verse is woven into a dialogue to create this unique call and response feel that is decidedly organic.”

The avant-rap producer known as MVW has put the finishing touches to an album with regular collaborator Valee, entitled VALEEDATION, with their chemistry resulting in new music that could just well turn out to be the pair’s magnum opus. VALEEDATION offers a unique language that Valee and MVW have developed through their shared artistic vision. The project’s sonic correlation with fine art allows it to transcend the boundaries of genre, blending into sounds featuring salient reconstruction of genres. The structural elements of classical music embedded within the song forms on VALEEDATION add an extra layer of sophistication and elevation.

MVW’s expertise in contemporary classical composition shines through as he weaves together intricate arrangements, showcasing his ability to meld genres seamlessly. Having studied classical music at New York University and under La Monte Young (one of the most revered American minimalist composers) and Bunita Marcus, Waller has also released three full LPs of classical compositions under his full name Michael Vincent Waller, including Moments which received a 7.8 from Pitchfork. MVW has worked with other innovative rappers such as TiaCorine, Xavier Wulf, Lil Gotit, Matt Ox, and Zelooperz.

MVW says, “The music feels like scenes in a movie more than tracks on an album, highlighted by different lighting on a thematic, subtle vibe. There is this sense of installation.”

Valee is a visionary rapper known for his unconventional style and infectious energy. With his distinctive lyrical delivery and unwavering commitment to artistic exploration, Valee has become a transformative force within the rap landscape. This new album follows up Valee’s project with Action Bronson and Greedo 03 produced by Harry Fraud. Together, they have crafted a distinctive sound that fuses contemporary classical influences with refined melodies, elevating the sonic tapestries of trap music.

Valee’s artistic journey has been a deliberate departure from mainstream conventions, as he immerses himself in innovative aesthetics that challenge the status quo. This avant-garde approach serves as a guiding beacon for MVW, offering them a unique lens through which to navigate uncharted territories in music, explore novel genres, and push boundaries beyond the familiar.

30. Torine – Medicine

Source:Torine

Norwegian rising star Torine drops a fiery new track with the release of “Medicine” (via Universal Music). One of Scandi’s hottest musical imports, Torine continues to deliver on every inch of hype bestowed on punk pop-inspired creations so far. “Medicine” injects relentless energy into her sound. Full of high guitars and hard-hitting drums, the track follows the same sound universe as her recent hit Seven Minutes in Heaven. While “7 minutes in Heaven” was simply about taking a short amount of time to figure out what you want and who you want, the sequel “Medicine” has a slightly darker undertone. It’s about escaping reality in various ways, one of which is self-medication. Torine elaborates, “I might be the best at escaping reality that I know of. Often, I wander around in my own little pink cloud even though it’s thunder and lightning all around me.”

Today’s new track “Medicine” and its predecessor “Seven Minutes in Heaven” comes fast on the heels of the critical and commercial success of Torine’s first EP “UNHOLY’’. Telling the story of her life in black and white with little room for shades of grey, the EP describes Torine’s early years spent trying to figure out her own identity amongst a family caught between religion and drugs. In her own words. “The burial of the person I used to be”. Now, the pop-punk princess takes a big step into the future with new music this fall. The music reflects her evolution to where she is in life now – a person who speaks to those who are usually not spoken to and writes songs about girls the exact same way that boys do. And most importantly, normalizes it. The handcuffs from the past are gone. Torine feels more liberated than ever. Free to explore herself both lyrically and musically.

Despite her young age, the 23-year-old from Arendal, Norway has built an impressive artistic CV. Torine’s music career started as an ambitious 16-year-old when she auditioned for Norwegian Idol. Five years later she has established herself as a rebellious, honest, and vulnerable artist who creates music for outsiders who thrive outside the box. With over 200 million streams under her belt and successful tours in both Europe and Asia, Torine has proven that she has a voice, stage presence, music, and identity that qualify her for a place among the stars. Torine is especially excited about her upcoming U.S. Touring dates.

Source:Jooselord - Topic

Its eerie yet commanding instrumentation coupled with call-and-response messaging guarantees to leave a sonic impression impossible to forget.

In an exclusive press statement to Medium Creative AgencyJooselord recalls what inspired him to create the song: “I wanted to make a song that was inclusive to groups of all kinds. Everyone has a squad they belong to; whether it be a sports team fan, gamer, or even a housewife. It’s about community as well as the balance of love and chaos. It’s about how much I love the people around me and how far I would go to prove it.”

In 2018, Jooselord released his debut album S.K.U.L.L. which tackled issues of police brutality, systematic oppression, and mental health with unapologetic honesty; earning him widespread critical acclaim and solidifying his place as the speakerbox for the voiceless. He followed that release with Moshpit Messiah in 2020, much of which was written while protesting in the streets of Durham. The project pushed Joose’s momentum into becoming one of the brightest rising stars.

Summer of 2021, Jooselord released a timely single titled “Quarantine” which received critical acclaim from culture-forward media outlets like REVOLT TV, Global Grind, and Dirty Glove Bastard. 36. Leon Thomas & Blxst – Crash & Burn (Remix)

Source:Leon Thomas

GRAMMY-nominated artist Leon Thomas shared his new single, “Crash & Burn” (with Blxst) [Remix]. Reflecting on a series of superficial relationships, Thomas contemplates changing it up and moving from Cali to Mississippi. Blxst – who released his debut album Before You Go in 2022 and has also earned acclaim for his collaborations with Tyga and Ty Dolla $ign (“Chosen”) and Kendrick Lamar and Amanda Reifer (“Die Hard”) – adds a hard-hitting verse, spinning his own cautionary tale of L.A. romance.

Thomas’ original version of the emotional, gospel-tinged “Crash & Burn” appears on his debut album, Electric Dusk, which was recently released via EZMNY Records/Motown Records. Named after Los Angeles’ longest-running drive-in theatre, Electric Dusk serves as the acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer’s love letter to cinema. Listen to Electric Dusk HERE.

Exploring love, heartbreak and growth while transporting listeners into an alternative reality, the album is sonically diverse – from the soft, soul-strumming breakup ballad “Breaking Point” to “Love Jones” feat. Ty Dolla $ign, a vibey slow jam expressing Thomas’ love for both the city of Los Angeles and his lady, to the guitar-forward grooviness of the “Blue Hundreds.”

Thomas – who was nominated for a GRAMMY Award for his work on Drake and Rick Ross’ “Gold Roses” and co-produced SZA’s No. 1 hit “Snooze” with Babyface – talks about the path that led him to Electric Dusk in this recent VIBE Q&A. He was joined by Ty Dolla $ign, who selected Thomas as the first signing to his EZMNY Records, in this Rolling Stone interview.

Pairing rapid-fire lyricism with soulful Buddah Bless (Migos, Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion) production and a deep bass, the 16-year-old’s latest brings the heat. Alongside the track comes a video, which finds the newcomer sharing his truth amid compelling, unflinching imagery.

“Weather not a problem still slide through the snow, beef getting hot make him run on his bro,” BBG raps at one point over the deep groove, later adding: “Always give you the 100 percent — me, I see you in person, always give me somebody to vent to that I need it for certain.” BBG Steppaa has made a name for himself sharing precisely how he sees the world, and this time it’s no different.

The accompanying Lawrence “Onetake” Conklin directed video is bold and visceral, depicting quick-cuts of the rapper delivering his bars interspersed with a narrative in which he rescues his lady following a kidnapping. It’s a powerful vision that pairs perfectly with the hard-charging track. Watch it HERE

“Love And War” follows “Nobody Outside” with Bloodie and DudeyLo. It was preceded by BBG’s team-up with Harlem teen Sugarhill Ddot on “Spinnin” an infectious two-hander with an infectious groove and boundless energy. These are on the heels of the DD Osama duet “Catch Up,” which doubled as the newcomer’s calling card. The song, which samples Eminem’s “Lose Yourself,” became a grassroots sensation for its potent precision.

Breaking out big, BBG Steppaa also received a coveted co-sign from Chicago’s Polo G and Jersey Club pioneer Bandmanrill, who called him “the next big thing.” With “Love And War,” BBG Steppaa stretches his legs and delivers a drill showcase for the ages.

Bass prodigy and burgeoning pop icon Blu DeTiger – named one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30 in Music 2023” –
returns with “Cut Me Down” featuring acclaimed Australian ar%st Mallrat. Released today by Capitol
Records, the two ar%sts trade o( on vocals, bringing a breezy, irrepressible energy as they confront those
who take pleasure in cu+ng other people down. Blu also plays bass on the track, which she produced with
John Hill and Sam Homaee. Blu and Mallrat wrote “Cut Me Down” with Hill, Homaee and Amy Allen.

“’Cut Me Down’ is a self-talk anthem – reminding myself not to let someone cut me down. It’s a groovy, sad
bop,” says Blu DeTiger. I feel like this song is a nice evolu%on for me and a side of me that people haven’t
heard, but the soul-full chords and movement of the bassline anchor it in the Blu DeTiger sound. This is one
of the most melodic and moving bass parts I’ve wri5en, and it follows and supports the vocals in a really cool
way. The pitched-up vocals are like my higher angels speaking to me, and they’re doing it with some spunk
and a+tude and aloofness. I also got to collaborate with my good friend Mallrat on this song. I have been a
fan of hers for so long—I just love her tone, 8ow, and character in her voice. I think it 9ts and elevates this
song perfectly.”

Blu, who supported Sabrina Carpenter and Charlie Puth on their recent tours, will play Suwannee Hulaween in Live Oaks, FL on October 27. Additional information and tickets are available HERE. Blu won massive acclaim for her late 2022 headline run, with Billboard and Vanyaland covering opening night in Boston, PAPER on hand her for her Los Angeles show and Rolling Stone taking fans backstage at NYC’s Webster Hall on closing night.

“Cut Me Down” follows Blu’s late 2022 hit “Elevator,” hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the “songs you need to know,” and “Lipstick,” her contribution to NME x Bose’s C23 Mixtape. Billboard said, “Blu DeTiger tends to exude an unflappable sense of cool in all of her songs, but “Elevator” may be her most impressively chilled-out track yet, s the rising pop star gives a tiring relationship no more attention than an eyeroll.” FLOOD Magazine observed, “In ‘Elevator,’ [Blu’s] choruses are playful, while the verses are unique in how they each chronicle interwoven bits about dancing, night life, and unreguited romance…an addictive new track.” GRAMMY.com recently highlighted Blu as one of five “radiant bassists bringing their instrument to the forefront.”
