Ok, this sounds kinda weird, a dad names his first-born daughter “Facebook” but he did it for all the right reasons. A twenty-something Egyptian man named his baby girl “Facebook” in tribute to the role the social media site played in organizing the historical protests in Tahrir Square.

Egyptian peeps used Facebook to help organize their protests and now the social media site is booming! There are five million Facebook users in Egypt, more so than any other country in the Middle East/North Africa region. Facebook itself has reported an increase in Egyptian users in the past month, with 32,000 Facebook groups and 14,000 pages created in the two weeks after January 25th.

Toldja having the name Facebook wasn’t so bad…
