Despite a new Denzel film and sci-fi thriller “Skyline,” it was the animated “Megamind” that took the weekend box office for the second week in a row.

The DreamWorks Animation 3D comedy, featuring Ferrell as the voice of a super villain, earned just over $30 million in its second week, taking its domestic total to nearly $90 million. In addition Ferrell, it also features the voices of Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill.

Opening in second place is the Denzel Washington action thriller “Unstoppable,” where Washington and Chris Pine star as railroad workers trying to stop a massive runaway train. It made $23.5 million this weekend to put it at #2. The movie is based on a 2001 Ohio incident in which a train carrying hazardous cargo traveled 66 miles without a crew.

Last week’s #2 film, “Due Date,” fell to #3 with $15.5 million. The comedy features Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis as opposites stuck together on a cross-country road trip. It earned $59 million so far.

In at #4 is “Skyline”, which took in $11.7 million. The sci-fi thriller depicts aliens invading and destroying Los Angeles.

And the comedy “Morning Glory,” starring Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton, opened at #5 with about $9.6 million.

That’s a wrap this week. Next weekend, look out for the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1,” and the action thriller “The Next Three Days,” starring Russell Crowe and Liam Neeson.
