Last week, horror ruled all, but with Halloween over with, the weekend box office went the opposite direction, with the animated “Megamind” beating out all films by over $10 million.

The film debuted at #1 with $47.6 million. The animated supervillain comedy features the voices of Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt, and is the latest animated creation from Dreamworks.

Coming in behind “Megamind” was “Due Date,” starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. It earned $33.5 million to take the #2 spot. It’s the latest from “The Hangover” director Todd Phillips, which follows a mismatched pair’s antic-packed, cross-country road trip to deliver Downey’s character in time to catch his child’s birth.

In at #3 was another new film, the latest from Tyler Perry, called “For Colored Girls.” It’s Perry’s onscreen re-imagining of the groundbreaking Ntozake Shange stage production “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf”. It earned $20.1 million.

“Red” continued to hold down a top-five spot at #4 this week, earning another $8.9 million to bump its total to about $72 million.

And closing out the top 5 was last weekend’s top movie, “Saw 3D”, taking in $8.2 million this week.

That’s a wrap this week. Next weekend, look out for the release of the Harrison Ford comedy “Morning Glory,” the Univeral thriller “Skyline,” and Denzel Washington’s action-thriller “Unstoppable.”

10 – “The Social Network,” $3.6 million.
