Everybody flocked to the theaters to see the story of the start of Facebook, via “The Social Network,” making it the top movie for the second weekend in a row, beating out new releases such as Katherine Heigl’s “Life as We Know It,” the “Secretariat,” and “My Soul to Take.”
The film about Facebook’s founders took in $15.5 million to remain the #1 film and raised its 10-day total to $46.1 million.
Debuting a close second with $14.6 million weekend was the romance “Life as We Know It,” starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel as sparring guardians to an orphaned girl.
Then, dropping two spots to #4 was “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,” earning another $7 million in its third weekend.
Closing out the top five, and debuting at #5 was Wes Craven’s new serial killer thriller “My Soul to Take,” earning just under $7 million at $6.9 million.
Later, at #12, was “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” opening at just 742 theaters, but earning $2 million.
That wraps things up this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the release of “Jackass 3D” and the action comedy “Red.”
