Last night, BET took it’s viewers down memory Lane with it’s special reunion show 106 & Park: 10 Years and Counting. Past hosts AJ & Free, Big Tigger and Julissa as well as current hosts Rocsi & Terrence reunited to discuss some of the biggest moments throughout the 10 years that the show has been airing.  The most pivotal moment of the show came when AJ and Free talked about why they abruptly departed the show.

Free recalled the day that AJ called her with the news that he would be leaving.

I just knew when he called me..when I heard his voice that something wasn’t right. I remember just looking at A.J’s face and falling on my knees because I knew he was about to cry.

AJ chimed in

Wow, that day is kind of crazy. There were some new people brought in, we couldn’t see eye to eye …..and it was a point in my life where I had transcended from a boy to a man ….and I knew that it was time to walk away. I rejoined my church, and at that time, I fostered a very deep relationship with my pastor at that time and a lot of different things just came at me….and I knew it was time for a change.

Free was very vague on the reason she left but she did admit it bothered her that people thought she had been fired.

I decided to leave 106 & Park myself. I decided that my ceiling had been met. I didn’t sign my contract and no one believed that I didn’t sign my contract….. they thought it was about money. It was a very hard decision to leave but I decided that I wanted to and I did.

I felt like I didn’t have to explain to anybody because it was a choice for me but at the same time, I wasn’t thinking about the fans. …like I should’ve been. And I was a little upset like the picture was painted as if I got fired…I wasn’t getting enough money, you know  I’ve never had those problems with B.E.T.

I believe my most memorable 106 and Park moment was seeing AJ cry as he announced they would no longer be on the show. The second most memorable was that lap dance he gave Janet Jackson. :-0

Tonight, 106 and Park will continue it’s special with live performances from some of the big names that have stopped by throughout the years.
