Incarcerated rapper Lil Wayne was sentenced to three years probation by an Arizona judge on Wednesday (June 30) for a drug arrest in Yuma in January 2008.

Weezy (real name: Dwayne Carter, Jr.) was arrested in Yuma, Arizona in 2008 after authorities found marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy and an unregistered .40-caliber pistol on his tour bus, which was stopped and searched at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint.

Last month, the rapper struck a deal with the prosecution, in which he would plead guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug and dodge jail time.

Wayne’s probation will begin upon his release from Riker’s Island, where he is currently halfway through an unrelated year-long sentence for weapons possession.

“We’re quite glad that we were able to wrap everything up,” Wayne’s lawyer said. “It’s a favorable plea agreement that will allow Mr. Carter to pursue his career.”
