One of the greatest careers in baseball has officially come to end as news in the world of sports floods our inboxes today. Why? Primarily because we’ve heard today that current Seattle Mariners outfielder Ken Griffey, Jr. has announced his retirement. The 40-year-old star of the field announced his retirement after playing for 22 years an an all-star outfielder in the majors. Before then, Griffey was a star player for the Cincinnati Reds followed by the Chicago White Sox.
During the 1990s, Griffey was touted as the best player in the game, but soon after a series of injuries began to wear on him, his production on the fields began to decline. He’s a great example of what hard work and tenacity can actually do for your career and life’s accomplishments. We’re saluting Griffey today for being one of our most valuable players, a Gold Glove winner and now a major part of baseball history that stems from our own backyards right here in Cincinnati.
