Anonymous writes in Dime’s Diary today and is having trouble figuring out a way to encourage his girlfriend to workout because she has gained weight since they have started dating.  How should he approach this situation?  Here is what he had to say:

Hey Dimepiece,

I’d like to remain anonymous because my girlfriend listens to your show but like most men, I am visual and love my girlfriend very much.  When we met, she had great body and of course brains to accompany it, but her body is what got my attention for sure!  She was athletic and played volley ball in college where we both attended.  We’ve been dating for 6 months and its been great, I couldn’t ask for a better girlfriend and to be honest, she’s the one I eventually want to spend the rest of my life with.  Only thing, since we have both graduated, she has been done with volleyball as well as fitness.  With that being said, she has put on some weight. She no longer has the body that she had when we first met.

I don’t want to hurt her feelings and I love her very much but,, it’s like she has let it all go.  How can I tell my girl she’s getting fat without telling her that basically she’s getting fat.  Am I wrong for wanting her to stay fit and toned like she was when I met her?

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
