1) Obama Bans Police Use Of Military-Style Equipment 

Mr. President is obviously not here for the excessive force we’ve seen from the police during protestors in Ferguson and Baltimore. In an effort to develop trust between law enforcement and local citizens, Barack Obama is now barring local police departments from using federal funds for military equipment like armored cars, high-caliber weapons and camouflage uniforms. 2) Loretta Lynch Stands Behind Death Penalty For Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev 

The Attorney General has spoken out in support of the recent jury decision to sentence Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to death for using a weapon of mass destruction, bombing a public place and ultimately murdering four people in the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks. In a public statement, Lynch said: “We thank the jurors for their service, the people of Boston for their vigilance, resilience and support and the law enforcement community in Boston and throughout the country for their important work.” Catch the story at The Week.

3) 45 Percent Of Blacks Are In High-Poverty Schools Versus Less Than 10 Percent of Whites

In commemoration of the 61st anniversary of the historic Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court decision, the Huffington Post pulled together some stats revealing the ongoing segregation and racial inequality in today’s schools. Data pulled from sources including the Urban Institute and the National Center for Education Statistics reveal discrepancies in education access as early as pre-school. 4) Almost 50 Have Been Shot Since Friday In Chicago

Immense gun violence continues in Chicago. As early as this morning there was a 24-year-old man found shot 100 yards from the scene of a homicide. This is the 49th shooting victim that has been counted from Friday afternoon. Check out the story at the Chicago Sun Times.

5) Tony Robinson’s Killer Cop Wants To Return To The Force

I guess walking away scot-free wasn’t enough for Madison Police Officer, Matt Kenny. Kenny now wants to go back to work after being cleared of any charges in the shooting death of 19-year-old Tony Robinson last week.
