In a rematch of last years Eastern Conference Final the defending champions Miami Heat took on the Indiana Pacers. Lebron James and co went into Sunday’s game with high expectations. Pacers haven’t played great in their last two series and they haven’t played great at home during those two series, giving high hopes to the Heat that they could steal game one at Indiana.
Unfortunately the Heat lost game one, with the Pacers who looked as if they returned to midseason form. The Pacers have been waiting for this series since they were eliminated in Game 7 of last year’s Eastern Conference final. And this time around they are looking to upset the defending champs. Claiming if they had the #1 seed in last years conference finals they would have won the series, and this season they were determined to get the #1 seed in the playoffs.
For the Pacers, the main goal and focus in the playoffs was to go through the Heat to get to the NBA finals, and avenging last year’s conference lost and getting to the NBA finals, the first for the Pacers since Reggie Miller and co did it back in 2000. After only losing one game in the playoffs to the Brooklyn Nets in the first two rounds, the Heat were finally out played in the first game in the best of seven, allowing the Pacers to score the most points they’ve scored in regulation in almost three months.
The Eastern Conference finals are just beginning and anything can happen during the series and on Tuesday we get to see how the Heat will respond and what game plan they decided to go with if they plan on reaching the NBA finals for the fourth time and conquering the three-peat title something that hasn’t been done since Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls did it in the 1998 season. During the big three era, Miami has lost game 1 four different times and in those four series they have gone on to win the series, which means there is still hope.
