Rihanna, whose relationship with her father has been strained because of his drug and alcohol abuse, reconciled with him over Christmas when she visited her homeland of Barbados.
Her dad Ronald, 57, says: “I saw her twice before Christmas and she came to see me on Christmas Day. She showered me with gifts, a lot of stuff, many shirts and cologne. She’s always really generous.”
The pair fell out after Ronald joined her on tour and “acted a mess”, as she puts it, before a gig in Chicago two years back.
“We did have a disagreement about the drinking on the tour,” he admits. “I got plastered on the tour bus. I can drink rum or beer but vodka does not like me – or gin. She blasted me for that – she was always lippy from her small days. I was picked up from the hotel in the morning and I was just shuttled to the airport.”
Since then, the relationship between the pair has been strained. Ronald, who claims that he no longer drinks or takes drugs, said: “You call her and she says that she’ll call back but then I don’t get a call back for another week. But I know how it is – sometimes she works 16 hours a day. I know how busy she is.
“Maybe we’re not as close as we were when she was growing up here and was at school. But we are blood, we do not stay angry and we are friends again.” SOURCE
