Apple had almost everyone going crazy over the weekend, scrambling to be the first to purchase the new iPad 2 … and they all flew off the shelves. Yes, all of them.
According to reports from several major media outlets, retailers couldn’t keep the iPad 2 on their shelves and as of Monday (March 14), they were sold out.
Several store locations such as Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and even Apple stores were outta stock of the item within hours of its release.
The Wall Street Journal says that sales for the iPad 2 were in the range of 400,000 to 600,000 units during its first three days on the market, while other media said sales were closer to 1 million.
As of Monday (March 15) online orders from Apple’s site were estimated to take nearly a month.
