Rumor has it John Legend has been accused of borrowing or sampling an unauthorized track. The song was given to him by a song writer by the name of Anthony Strokes. He says that Legends 2006 track “Maxine’s” interlude is a copy of a song he wrote called “Where are you now”.
Strokes also stated that he gave John Legend a demo tape back in 2004 when he was a student at the University of North Carolina. Legend proudly accepted the tape but he never reached out to him regarding any feedback or a potential offer of funds in order to sample his music. After two years of waiting for a response Strokes found that his song had been jacked. Anthony Stokes is now suing for alleged Copyright Infringement.
