Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory made a surprise appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” early Friday, in which he bantered with the late-night host and then met teen pop star Justin Bieber.
Promotions earlier in the evening for Kimmel’s show, which airs on Channel 9 at midnight, had stated that Bieber would be among the night’s guests. After Kimmel made his entrance, welcoming “the 40 million 9-year-old girls who are up after midnight for the first time in their lives tonight,” he claimed Bieber had not been able to come but that he had found a suitable replacement: “I think you’re going to be very happy. We’ve got the mayor of Cincinnati — Mark Mallory is here.”
After Mallory came on stage, waving to the crowd, Kimmel asked him what was going on in Cincinnati.
“We’ve got a lot of things going on,” Mallory replied. “We just built a $400 million office tower, we’re just about to break ground on a $128 million streetcar system and we’re building a casino. Who doesn’t like to gamble??”
