HERMITAGE, Tenn., Dec. 23 (UPI) — Tennessee police said they are searching for a Santa Clauswho made their naughty list with a morning bank robbery.
Investigators said naughty old St. Nick, described as a white man with brown hair, walked into the SunTrust Bank Tuesday in Hermitage and left with an undisclosed amount of money in his Santa sack, The (Nashville) Tennessean reported Wednesday.
Police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford said the robber was the first to don a Santa suit in a Davidson County crime in recent years.
“I don’t remember a Santa doing that,” Mumford said. “I don’t recall when a costume like he had today was used for a robbery.”
However, the costume is a popular disguise among criminals nationwide. Police in Pennsylvania said a gun-toting Santa robbed a bank earlier this month. One of the most infamous heists in history, the Dec. 23, 1927, Santa Claus bank robbery in Cisco, Texas, resulted in the deaths of six bystanders.
