Already 10 years have passed since the world of urban music and entertainment lost a true angel and a rare gem whose star was just beginning to shine as bright as could be. August 25, 2001 was the day R&B singer/actress Aaliyah was tragically killed in a plane crash just moments after its departure from the set of the music video for her hit single “Rock the Boat.”
She’s been touted as one of music’s most influential voices mainly because of what we were all waiting for and expecting to hear from her before she passed away. Today, we join many others across the globe who will celebrate her life, her music and her legacy a decade later.
In honor of Aaliyah’s magical moments in music history, tonight BET Networks will pay tribute to the late singer with a special one-hour program entitled “Aaliyah: One in a Million.” The featured presentation takes a look back at the singer in her prime and will also afford fans new and old an opportunity to check out never-before-seen footage of the young star. With special appearances from the many people she’s touched including Missy “Misdemeanor”Elliott and Timbaland, this is one special you won’t want to miss. Check out the details below.
