New York– The Secret Service is investigating a data heist that is being called the largest data heist in history.
Hackers breached the Epsilon marketing company’s records Friday, stealing millions of email contacts. Fortunately for countless people, no sensitive financial information was stolen during the breach.
Capital One, Chase, Target, Best Buy, TiVo, and many other companies were affected by the attack.
Experts say the hackers will use the information obtained to phish information by fooling costumers to give up their personal information.
“Now they know which institution people bank with, they know their name and they have their email address,” said David Jevans, founder of the non-profit Anti-Phishing Working Group.
