Sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, the Prescription Drug Take-Back day will be held this Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 10am to 2pm. The service is free and anonymous to help prevent an increase in pill abuse and theft.

People can drop off expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. If an original container is submitted, you are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the label. Tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage forms will be collected; however, intravenous solutions, injectables, and syringes will not be accepted.

Each day, approximately, 2,500 teens use prescription drugs to get high for the first time according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including the home medicine cabinet.
