Patti Labelle was honored with the lifetime achievement award at last night’s BET awards, and a slew of individuals who we lost in the past year were remembered.
Clarence Clemons, Nate Dogg, M-Bone, Gil-Scott Heron, and Teena Marie’s lives were all reflected on with musical tributes, as well kind words from artists.
Cali Swag District were joined by Doug E. Fresh to remember M-Bone. “We love you, bro,” they said. Queen Latifah honored Gil-Scott with his infamous “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” poem. And Teena was remembered as “one of the greatest soul singers.”
