Motorists traveling north along I-75 near Middletown can expect long delays Friday due to road repairs caused by a giant pothole.
Police have blocked the left two lanes of northbound I-75 between Monroe and Middletown so crews can repair the interstate.
The back up extends several miles.
The Ohio State Patrol posts from Lebanon and Hamilton have taken almost a dozen incident reports on vehicles that received flat tires due to the large pothole.
The pothole measures 8-feet wide, 23 feet long and 24 inches deep.
Crews will finish repairing the pothole Friday afternoon.
Starting Saturday at 6 a.m., the left two lanes will be closed again while crews rehab the existing pavement. That particular stretch is 500 feet south of the pothole under repair on Friday.
Anyone who suffers a flat tire or damage to their vehicle needs to contact the Lebanon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at (513)932-4444. The OSP will forward the police report to ODOT who will then contact the private contractor who’s responsible for repairing the roadway.
If a person is not satisfied, they would have to take the contractor to small claims court.
