Rapper Snoop Dogg is expanding his very successful Snoop Youth Football League to Chicago. He hopes that the league will help combat violence in the community like it has in his home hometown.

Haamid Wadood, SYFL’s Commissioner, landed in Chicago Saturday March 5th where he announced plans for the 2011 season, which includes eight new teams in Chicago.

37-year-old Tonja Styles was appointed by Snoop to be the President of the Chicago division, while former Chicago Bears/Super Bowl champion Otis Wilson as VP of the league.

In a statement to allhiphop.com Tonja Styles stated “This is a great day for the youth of the city of Chicago,they deserve a real chance. And it’s a great day for Hip Hop.

In the coming months, Snoop’s league will debut four of the eight teams that will represent Chicago.

Chicago’s West Side will be represented by The Chicago Chargers), the Northside/Pilsen area has The Jets, the Roseland/Blue Island section of the city has The Southside Seahawks, while Cabrini Green will be represented by The Raiders.

Snoop started the SYFL seven years ago, with $1 million dollars of his own money.
