A new report claims that a pre-Grammys party in Hollywood was graced by Prince, but only after another singer was disinvited.

R&B crooner Eric Benet — Halle Berry‘s ex-husband, now engaged to Prince’s ex-wife, Manuela Testolini — was shut out of the Essence Black Women in Music event last week, the NY Post says, because organizers believed the couple would make Prince uncomfortable.

The party’s guest of honor was Grammy-nominated vocalist Janelle Monae, who sang four songs, including ‘Tightrope’ with OutKast rapper Big Boi. Hitmaker Cee Lo Green, who opened for Prince’s Welcome 2 America tour stop in New York City last week, also attended.

Meanwhile, New York’s Daily News claims Prince was also chilly toward a fellow A-list guest at Essence’s party: Sean “Diddy” Combs. But Diddy’s rep quickly shot down the rumor, saying there is “no truth to this.”

Prince, 52 — who brought one of his tour’s dancers, Misty Copeland, as his date to the Essence party — was married to Testolini (his second wife) from 2001-’06; she and Benet announced their engagement last month after he proposed with a song he wrote for her. Benet married Berry in 2001, but his alleged infidelities led to a 2003 divorce.
