Despite fierce snow on the east coast, nothing could stop the Fockers from topping the box office during the Christmas vacation … with the latest in the comedy film series, “Little Fockers,” which beat out Paramount’s “True Grit” and “Gulliver’s Travels.”

The third installment of the Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro series earned $34 million over the three-day weekend to top all movies, and earned $48.3 million since opening on Wednesday, said studio estimates.

While it was enough to beat out other films, it was less than the debut of the 2004 sequel, “Meet the Fockers,” which opened to $46.1 million, but more than the original, “Meet the Parents,” which made $28.6 million in its opening weekend, reports the Associated Press.

The Coen Brothers’ “True Grit” missed #1 to land the #2 film over the weekend, earning $25.6 million, and a five-day gross of $36.8 million. Apparently, it gave Joel and Ethan Coen their best opening weekend ever. The filmmakers’ previous top debut was “Burn After Reading,” which earned $19 million in its first weekend in 2008.

Last weekend’s top movie, “Tron: Legacy”, fell to #3 this week with another $20 million on its books; while the new “Chronicles of Narnia” film fell one spot to #4 with just over $10 million.

Closing out the top 5 was “Yogi Bear” earning $8.8 million to bring its total to just over $36 million.

The weekend’s other wide release was the 3D “Gulliver’s Travels”, starring Jack Black. It debuts at #7 with a weak two-day gross of $7.2 million after opening on Christmas Day.

That’s a wrap for this weekend. Next weekend, look out for the release of Nicolas Cage’s period action “Season of the Witch” and the expansion of Sony’s music drama “Country Strong” starring Garrett Hedlund and Gwyneth Paltrow.

This weekend’s top 10 is as follows:

1 – “Little Fockers,” $34 million.

2 – “True Grit,” $25.6 million.

3 – “Tron: Legacy,” $20.1 million.

4 – “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” $10.8 million.

5 – “Yogi Bear,” $8.8 million.

6 – “The Fighter,” $8.5 million.

7 – “Gulliver’s Travels,” $7.2 million.
