Last night, Hollywood was lit up with the entertainment industry’s biggest names and superstars at the 2010 American Music Awards – one of several annual celebrations of the year’s best musical acts awarded for their outstanding achievements in the recording industry.
For those of you who watched, were you satisfied with the winners, the performances and the overall production of this year’s show. Some are speculating the importance of the show nowadays which represents more of a public opinion with winners determined by a poll of music buyers – unlike the Grammy Awards, held in January, which are awarded based on votes by members of the entertainment industry.
Oddly enough, a few of the artists nominated and even those who won pretty big last night, might be taking it for granted, too. Lady Gaga wasn’t in the audience and neither was Detroit rapper Eminem, each of whom won an AMA for their incredibly popular musical efforts this past year. For those that were in attendance to either perform or accept their award, what did you think of the results?
We keep hearing about Rihanna’s elaborate stage performance filled with costume changes and several of her featured singles from the star’s fifth album Loud, which just hit stores last week. Are these awards shows becoming avenues for the artists to promote their music and ultimately build album sales? It’s all in the marketing, right? Well, here she is below in case you didn’t get to see her opening the show.
RIHANNA – LIVE AT 2010 AMAs
Now who actually might have stolen the show? I think that award goes to Diddy. “Mr. Multiple Streams of Income” himself was accompanied by the duo of young divas Dirty Monty to perform the introspective “Coming Home.” Not into him? You might be if you step outside of the situation and realize that this man is all about keeping his name, his image and his music at the forefront of everyone’s minds. Can’t knock the hustle, right?
DIRTY MONEY – LIVE AT 2010 AMAs
Okay, maybe Diddy wasn’t that spectacular, but what about those Black Eyed Peas? I give them many kudos for always bringing us something different, something creative and over-the-top. We’re still out of breath over here from that choreography and staging they put together. They always rock it out! Check it out if you missed it below.

Anyways, enough rambling from me today. I just wanted to check in with you guys to find out what actually took place on the show worth mentioning since the hype was there as it normally is perceived to be. I’m looking forward to the Grammy Awards being the spectacular we’ve come to know and love. Or will we be somewhat disappointed with that one, too?
Be sure to check out the list of winners and other special moments from last night’s show at BVBuzz.com today.
In the meantime, let us know what you thought of the show in detail on the message board below.
