Media outlets gathered at the Samsung Experience Store in the Time Warner Center in New York City last week to watch the unveiling of Jay-Z’s new site, JayzHitsCollection.com, for his upcoming greatest hits compilation, The Hits Collection Vol. 1, scheduled for release later this month.
The event, hosted by Hot 97’s very own Miss Info, served as a launching pad for Jay-Z’s newest greatest hits opus featuring 14 of his chart-topping radio smashes.
Songs to be included on the The Hits Collectioninclude: “Empire State of Mind”, “Izzo”, “Hard Knock Life”, “Show Me What You Got”, “Roc Boys” and many more. It will also include a bonus disc featuring five remixes, and bonus tracks such as his verses from Young Jeezy’s “My President Is Black (Remix)” and DJ Khaled’s “Go Hard (Remix)”.
On the newly launched JayzHitsCollection.com website, fans will be able to listen to the songs scheduled to appear on the album, while navigating through the site and re-live Jay’s illustrious career with a timeline broken down into four segments.
The first segment is titled “The Beginning,” which breaks down his career milestones from 1989-1998. The second segment, called “From Marcy to Madison Square”, is from 1999-2003 where Hov began to lift off and receive national recognition as not just a rapper, but an artist. The third is “Corporate Takeover,” which discusses his rise as a notorious businessman from 2004-2007, to finally the last segment, entitled “I Run The Map,” capping off his current mega stardom status today.
The site gives fans total control in engaging with their favorite rapper by reviewing his discography, photos from the past and present, and watching famous video footage showing Shawn Carter at his rarest form.
