Gabourey Sidibe is set to star alongside Eddie Murphy in the forthcoming action-comedy movie, ‘Tower Heist.’
The film, also starring Ben Stiller, follows employees at a luxurious block of apartments who are scammed out of their pensions by one resident.
The crooked character lives in the penthouse suite, where he is under house arrest, and has been stealing the life savings of the staff there. The employees – led by Ben’s building manager character – will team up in an attempt to out-smart the resident and get their money back.
Sidibe is currently starring in the Showtime series ‘The Big C’.
Sidibe’s new role may come as a surprise to radio host Howard Stern who, back in March 2010, famously said, “Everyone’s pretending she’s (Sidibe) a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie”.
As well as ‘Tower Heist’, Sidibe is also set to star in the upcoming drama movie, ‘Yelling to the Sky’, due for release in 2011.
