Help NOC and MusicJunkie in taking a look at the best (and the worst) of the individual cyphers that took place during last night’s BET Hip Hop Awards show.
101.1 The Wiz wants to know what you thought of them one by one. Of course, we’re not going to put all of the work on you. Together myself and my favorite new music critic have decided to chime in on the freestyle cyphers and let you know what we thought of each one, too.
Then of course, all you have to do is post your thoughts and responses to the cypher or our recaps below on the message board below. Sound simple? Seem easy? Good, then let’s go for it!
Next up, we have Royce Da 5’9, Tyga, Diamond and Kuniva all spittin’ a verse. Which one takes the cake on this cypher?
NOC’S REPORT:
Off top this cypher was nice!!! Tyga was slick with the flow but the punch lines didn’t carry no steam wit me for real. But this is a perfect example of how the dynamics of a cypher can vary and there is no set flow to it. Diamond is not really known for her freestyles but she reminded me of a young Eve with the line “pit off the leash”. The original pitbull in a skirt will always be that Philly native. But in tru detroit fashion and d12 flava Kuniva has that rough comedy in his flows. I don’t know bout you but i”ve been stuck in the drive thru late night behind a tipsy orderer. lol. Hands down it goes to Royce! If you not hip to him then google him real talk!!!!
MUSICJUNKIE’S REPORT:
I think this one was a bit unfair. I was waiting for the ladies to come and represent, but Diamond? Not my first choice for anything. Notice she didn’t keep it lady-like at all? Now, listening to them all back to back, none of the fellas cursed and used profanity like she did. I know the girls have to have as big of a bit and a much louder bark to stand up against the dudes, but this was non-cohesive compared the males on the platform. I think she lost me very shortly after she stepped up, but I enjoyed Tyga and Kuniva the most out of everyone. Maybe I’m just a prude, lol! Can someone tell me what exactly does “Royce Da 5’9” mean? I’m lost.
