Titans QB Vince Young Missed Meetings In days Before Benching

Was Vince Young’s benching a result of the Tennessee Titan’s lost yesterday?  Well there’s more to why the Titan Q!B was out of the game.

What led to the Tennessee Titans benching QB Vince Young in Week 2?

The Tennessean reported that Young missed or arrived late to at least two meetings in the days leading up to the Titans’ 19-11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Overall, Young was not applying the preparation needed to combat the Steelers’ aggressive defense, which led to coach Jeff Fisher lifting him for veteran Kerry Collins, the paper reported.

Young bounced back on Sunday as the Titans picked up a 29-10 road win against the New York Giants.

“You guys always ask, ‘How’s Vince matured?’ Well, what he did today shows you,” guard Jake Scott told The Tennessean. “He did what a professional does. He had a bad week last week — there is no other way around it. But he came out and played a great game and made plays when he needed to. He protected the ball and did everything we asked him to do. It was really just a professional performance on his part.”

Fisher has said benching Young was “kind of a one-time thing” and added Sunday that he was pleased with the way his QB performed.
