Racist Threat Leads to FBI Arrest in Cincinnati
Scott Michael Hanna, a 30-year-old Dayton man, posted a chilling threat on X. He allegedly claimed to be organizing violent mobs to kill 30,000 Black residents in Cincinnati. The post, filled with racist language, declared intentions to “cleanse the city of blacks” by Sunday. Consequently, the Cincinnati Police Department quickly reported the post to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force. The FBI traced the post to Hanna’s account, @generalquinny, and arrested him on August 1, 2025.
Swift FBI Response
The FBI acted promptly, charging Hanna with making an interstate communication with a threat to injure. This federal offense carries a potential five-year prison sentence. According to The Independent, FBI Cincinnati Special Agent in Charge Elena Iatarola emphasized, “The FBI aggressively investigates those who threaten our communities with violence.” The agency’s rapid response, therefore, prevented a potential tragedy. Additionally, the FBI confirmed Hanna’s identity through his X account’s email and a matching driver’s license photo.
A Troubling History
Hanna was already known to local law enforcement. In September 2024, he allegedly swung a sword at someone’s neck, causing severe injury. During that incident, he reportedly used racial slurs against a police officer. Although details of prior charges remain unclear, this history underscores Hanna’s violent tendencies. As a result, his arrest has heightened community concerns about safety and racism.
Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation
The threat, particularly after a recent viral brawl in Cincinnati, has shaken the city’s Black population of about 120,000. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval condemned the rhetoric, stating, “This is not who we are as a city.” Meanwhile, the FBI continues to investigate, ensuring justice and community safety
