It’s her year!

Cincinnati rapper Skylar Blatt received a major hometown honor Thursday as Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Kearney presented her with a proclamation, officially making March 21st “Skylar Blatt Day.” The recognition celebrates Blatt’s contributions to both the city and music industry.

“When a lane doesn’t exist, Cincinnati-born rapper Skylar Blatt will create one… Regardless of where she went, hip-hop provided a safe harbor,” Vice Mayor Kearney said during the presentation at City Hall.

Blatt took to Instagram to share her excitement in a heartfelt post, writing, “I Want To Thank My Fans My Team My Community The Lord Himself & Most Importantly I Wanna Thank Myself For Going 100% Hard Putting In All The Work Despite Any Obstacles I Never Lost Sight Of The Mission!”

The honor follows a breakout year for the “Hold Me Down” rapper. Her track “Wake Up” featuring Chris Brown has racked up 12 million views on YouTube, and she’s been steadily rising in the industry. Blatt joined Polo G’s Hood Poet Tour last year and hit the stage at Rolling Loud Miami in December, locking in her status as one of hip-hop’s fastest-rising stars.
