As the world waited in anticipation of where LeBron James would be taking his basketball career, another celebrity was making a decision that would trump LeBron.

Jennifer Lopez, or J. Lo as we know her, is facing criticism over canceling her plans to appear at the Cratos Premium Hotel and Casino, a hotel in Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus. Lopez decided to cancel her performance due to her appearance making a political statement in support of human rights abuse.

J. Lo’s representative states “she would never knowingly support a political body for a state, country, institution or regime that is associated with abusing human rights.”

Murat Bozoglu, the chief executive of the hotel and casino will allow Lopez to change her mind and perform on July 24 since the contract has yet to be terminated, but if she doesn’t appear, legal proceedings will begin for damages of up to $40 million. “The cancellation…is not covered by any clause in the contract she signed with us.”

So what do you think? Should J. Lo perform or stick to her guns?
