The World Cup title will feature a new champion on Sunday, July 11th as Spain beat Germany 1-0 and the Netherlands’ defeated Uruguay 3-2. The Netherlands have qualified for their first World Cup final in 32 years after surpassing Uruguay in their semi-final at the Green Point Stadium in Cape Town.

Goals from Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben during the second half gave the Dutch team the slight advantage and opportunity to advance to their first World Cup after concluding as runner-ups in both the 1974 and 1978 World Cup Finals.

The Netherlands will face Spain on July 11 to deliver a first ever World Cup appearance for Europe from a tournament outside the continent. Uruguay’s exit meanwhile ends the South American interest in the World Cup following the quarter-final defeats of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay.
