Good news for the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center this week!

As many of you might have already anticipated the arrival of a new exhibition at the downtown museum, we have the official confirmation that a rather large portion of the Berlin Wall has finally arrived as of yesterday.

The section of the Berlin Wall weighs in at approximately three tons and stands 12 feet tall and 4 feet wide. The dedication of the monument will be held on July 3rd outside of the Freedom Center.

How did it get here? Why are they putting it on display? We’re so glad you’ve asked that question. An educational miniature park will be erected and lit after the sun goes down to illuminate the Berlin Wall and remind visitors of how Civil War era slaves reached freedom.

The portions received from Munich, Germany worked to get the exhibit here to Cincinnati for nearly two decades ago just as the Soviet bloc was falling apart. To view more details of the exhibit, please feel free to visit WCPO.com today. Will you visit the Freedom Center this summer to check out this and other exhibits?
