Last night, the huge 62-foot King of Kings statue outside of Solid Rock Church in Monroe was struck by lightning and destroyed. Beyond the metal frame, there is nothing left of the statue.
According to today’s reports, the statue should have absorbed the lightning strike because the statue was grounded. Solid Rock Church officials say they will rebuild the King of Kings and go forward with their Fourth of July celebration as planned although equipment for the celebration was also damaged by fire.

Many of us are speechless right now, but we’re just glad that no one was hurt by the lightning strike. Too bad the statue had to suffer though, right? I just can’t imagine what that actually looked like last night. The video is here, but waking up to see that would’ve spooked even the strongest of us. What do you guys think?
