“It’s time I fix me,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
Rapper Kid Cudi announced in a Facebook post Tuesday evening that he checked into rehab for depression and suicidal urges.
The rapper, whose real name is Scott Mescudi, posted a lengthy Facebook post outlining his struggle.
“It took me a while to get to this place of commitment, but it is something I have to do for myself, my family, my best friend/daughter and all of you, my fans,” he wrote.
He entered a rehab facility on Monday evening, he continued:
“I am not at peace. I haven’t been since you’ve known me. If I didn’t come here, I wouldve done something to myself. I simply am a damaged human swimming in a pool of emotions everyday of my life. Theres a ragin violent storm inside of my heart at all times. Idk what peace feels like.”
Further into the message, Cudi promised he’ll return to finish his album, but left business affairs in his manager’s hands to focus on healing. He said if all goes well, fans may see him at a previously scheduled engagement, the Complexcon festival on November 5, in Los Angeles.
He ended the post with resilience and honesty: “Ill be back, stronger, better. Reborn. I feel like s—, I feel so ashamed. Im sorry.”
Cudi’s suffered a long path to rehabilitation; he’s been transparent about past drug use to cope with anxiety and depression.
Twitter offered condolences and support:
Kid Cudi, we’re rooting for you and we hope this journey brings you solace and peace.
