Kanye West is at it again!
And, this time he’s coming for Bob Ezrin, a heavyweight producer and keyboardist in the music industry.
Bob has produced music for prolific artists such as Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Kiss and Pink Floyd to name a few.
In a post for Bob Lefsetz‘s the Lefsetz Letter, the producer wrote that “West has made some great material, but that he isn’t on the creative level of some other prominent artists.”
Bob went on to add, “Unlike other creators in his genre like Jay-Z, Tupac, Biggie or even M.C. Hammer for that matter, it’s unlikely that we’ll be quoting too many of Kanye’s songs 20 years from now. He didn’t open up new avenues of public discourse like NWA, or introduce the world to a new art form like Grandmaster Flash, or even meaningfully and memorably address social issues through his music like Marshall, Macklemore and Kendrick.”
He also comments that Kanye isn’t even on the same producing level as notable producers Timbaland and Rick Rubin and that his songwriting is “sophomoric at best.”
Although the producer went on to admit he hasn’t heard Kanye’s album The Life of Pablo yet, he does note that in order to be considered as a real artist, one must “make stuff that changes the world and LASTS.”
As you can imagine, once Kanye received news of the less than spectacular critique, he didn’t take it too well.
In his recent series of tweets, he calls out the producer for his remarks.
