Cat’s caught your tongue? Baltimore officer accused of murdering Freddie Gray is now refusing to testify.
Baltimore Cop Refuses To Testify Against Other Officers In Freddie Gray Murder Trial
Porter is refusing to do so under his fifth amendment rights…
Attorneys for one of six Baltimore police officers charged in the death of Freddie Gray have filed a motion to keep him from testimony against his former colleagues.
William Porter’s defense team asked a judge on Monday to quash a subpoena for his testimony in the upcoming trials of Caesar Goodson and Sgt. Alicia White, saying that he plans to invoke his Fifth Amendment protections against self-incrimination and decline to take the stand.
Porter, 26, was the first of the officers to go to trial, last month. Jurors could not reach a verdict, however, and a judge declared a mistrial. Porter’s retrial has been scheduled for June 13.
As if the lives of these shady group of police are more valuable than a black boy who “allegedly” died at their hands.
Says Porter’s lawyers:
‘Calling Officer Porter at the Goodson and White trials will not only result in his rights being violated, but will necessitate a quagmire in which rights are trampled on all sides in the ensuing free-for-all,’
