Ciara’s music buzz is growing with the success of her new single, I Bet, off her upcoming ‘Jackie’ album. She’s gearing up to co-host a new variety show on NBC, doing some touring ‘Down Under’, but all of this jet-setting may have to come to a hault. Ci-Ci may be gearing up for a lawsuit from fellow ATLien, Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox.

Just after Robin Thicke and Pharrell has settled (for now) their first copyright infringement lawsuit against the Marvin Gaye estate,Jermaine Dupri was questioned about the lawsuit by Yahoo!

He tells Yahoo!, “Younger producers like myself and Pharrell, we make records that are influenced by other records that are out there. That’s how hip-hop has always been created — it has some kind of element of something (from) the past. Or sometimes we just take the entire sample and we give the artist the credit for that sample.”

“We’ve all been in a position where it could go like this or we can give the producer the credit.”

The ‘Blurred Lines’ situation is definitely hitting close to home for him, as he could be getting ready to hit fellow ATLien, Ciara, with a similar lawsuit. Dupri and Producer, Bryan Michael Cox, is questioning the originality of Ciara’s ‘I Bet’.

Dupri tells Yahoo, “Ciara’s new single is a complete rip-off of Usher’s ‘U Got It Bad’. I’m clear on what I made and I’m clear on how music influences people and I’m clear on chord changes and how people move things. … It might not be as evident as the ‘Blurred Lines’ situation, but I believe the same thing happened to me. I Bet” also sounds like R&B singer Tamia’s “Still.” Dupri and Cox produced that record as well.

Jermaine Dupri plans to contact Ciara and the  ‘I Bet’ producers over this issue.
