There’s going to soon be courtroom showdown amongst leaders of the hip hop and sports worlds as news reports say Jay-Z and a business partner have decided to take legal action and sue Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz. Apparently, Ortiz is trying to steal some of Jay-Z’s shine by naming his new Dominican nightclub after the mogul’s chain of 40/40 clubs.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Manhattan Federal Court, accuses Ortiz of calling his Santo Domingo club Forty-Forty in the hopes of trading on the rap star’s fame. But who does that without first adhering to the proper channels necessary to strike such a potentially lucrative business deal?
