Known for her funky, off-beat style, in your face attitude and music, and not to mention the headlines she and ex-husband rapper Nas are making in child support court and other entertainment news, but today, Kelis has unveiled the cover artwork for her upcoming project “Flesh Tones,” scheduled for release in the U.S. on July 6. The glamorous cover photo was taken by U.K. portrait and fashion photographer Rankin.
After nearly four years since her last project, Kelis’ fifth studio album includes the No. 1 dance single “Acapella” and features production from David Guetta (see “When Love Takes Over” featuring Kelly Rowland), Free School, Boys Noize and Benny Benassi.
What do you think of the album cover and the new music? Are you getting good vibes on Kelis’ next project or are you over this wave already?
Our team of music fanatics here at the station say Kelis is back, but some of us can’t figure out if she’s our version of Lady Gaga in the cover photo. The other half thinks Kelis has been doing her thing way before folks went goo-goo for Gaga. Should we expect more futuristic and artsy looks like this to pop up this summer in R&B?
