Los Angeles Lakers’ foward, Ron Artest, has reportedly inked a deal for his own reality series, which will show a side of the player off the court.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the NBA bad boy will develop a series called “They Call Me Crazy” with E1 Entertainment and Tijuana Entertainment.
The show will document Artest’s everyday life, his sports career, and his aspirations in the music biz where he runs a indie label called Tru Warier, the same companies also producing a reality series with singer Faith Evans.
“I’m really excited to have the opportunity to invite people into my world to see the real me, and show them there are many more sides to the Ron Artest they see on the basketball court,” the NBA player said in a statement.
Artest hopes, through his show, fans can learn from the mistakes he made in his past. One incident, specifically, came in 2004 when he attacked a fan in the stands during a Pacers–Pistons player brawl.
While the brawl helped give Artest notoriety, it also helped feed his bad boy image, especially after the media began highlighting his off-court behavior.
“This show will allow me to share my experiences with others, and hopefully people can learn from the mistakes I’ve made,” he said.
At press time, an air date for the show was not announced.
