The jury of six and made up of all women basically had three choices: to find Zimmerman guilty of second-degree murder; to find him guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter; or to find him not guilty.After 16 1/2 hours, inlcuding 13 hours on Saturday alone. The jury found George Zimmerman to be NOT Guilty . Which mean the jury has reasonable doubt that the shooting of Trayon Martin actually lead to a crimainal act by Zimmerman.
In order for the verdict to be manslaughter the jury would have had to believe that Zimmerman “intentionally committed an act or acts that caused the death of Trayvon Martin.” For a verdict of Second Degree Murder they would have had to believe that Martin’s death was “done from ill will, hatred, spite or an evil intent” and would be. ”
